Andy's Impact - The Buck Stops Here

Tuesday, March 15, 2011

I found Andy at Advocare Success School and immediately loved his unique way of speaking in stories, using his smiles and laughter while introducing very profound, touching and life-changing concepts. The first book I read was The Traveler's Gift. It moved me to tears, and I enjoyed it immensely, thinking I could apply the 7 decisions to change my life. Like always though, as soon as I put the book down, the lessons were forgotten and I went back to being my old self. Then, today, I was blind-sided when my mother-in-law told me my daughter would not give her a hug "because mommy and daddy don't." I broke out in tears and the first thing that came to my mind was the story Andy told about The Butterfly Effect. The choices and actions I have made during my daughter's life (and my life prior to her birth), have sent out ripples the size of hurricane waves and have affected my daughter in a way that I never imagined would happen. So as I drove to work, sobbing and praying, I said "no more." THE BUCK STOPS HERE! I must make a commitment to being a changed person. No more willy-nilly, fence-straddling, fly-by-the-seat-of-my-pants.

No more adult temper-tantrums. I will take action, and I will be the person God created me to be, and somehow by doing this, also change the heart of my daughter. If it wasn't for Andy Andrews, my life would have continued on in the way it had been, and my actions would have probably made my daughter into a very bitter woman. I am so thankful for Andy's "gift" to my life.
